Oxbow Lightscapes Project On View at Oxbow Public Market in Napa

Chandra Cerrito / Art Advisors is pleased to announce the inaugural Oxbow Lightscapes exhibition at Oxbow Public Market in Napa, CA. The project features Napa-based artist Arleene Correa Valencia’s work projected via gobos onto the market’s floors and merchant screens when shops are closed. CC/AA worked with Oxbow Public Market’s management team to help define this new gobo art installation program, select an artist, and oversee the artist’s design process.

This installation of five line drawing portraits illustrate the community of hardworking Napa Valley residents who help sustain a thriving Oxbow Public Market. In this work, Correa Valencia hopes to offer the viewer an opportunity to see beyond the wonderful products which surround their Napa experience, and challenge them to search for meaningful connections to the people whose contributions often go unseen.

Correa Valencia received her MFA from California College of the Arts. One of four children originally from Arteaga, Michoacán, Mexico, Correa Valencia is a beneficiary of DACA and is on a path to becoming a naturalized citizen of the United States. The Correa Valencia family fled to the United States in 1997 and found home in Napa Valley. Correa Valencia’s work is held in the permanent collections of the Cantor Arts Center at Stanford University, Crocker Art Museum, Utah Museum of Fine Arts, Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art, Grand Valley State University Museum of Art, Ulrich Museum of Art, and 21c Museum Hotels.

The initial exhibition will be on view for approximately one year. Oxbow Public Market is located at 610 and 644 First Street in Napa. Market Hours: 7:30 a.m.–9 p.m. daily. Two projections are on view all day. The best viewing hours are early morning (before 9:00 a.m.) or late evening (after 7:30 p.m.), when projections on multiple merchant screens are also visible.

Interactive Art at UCSF Bayfront Medical Building in Mission Bay, San Francisco

We are thrilled to share an article about two interactive art installations at the UCSF Bayfront Medical Building that both engage the viewer through sound. Skyhorn, a 12-foot-high bronze sculpture by San Francisco Bay Area artist team Wowhaus (Scott Constable and Ene Osteraas-Constable) is installed outside the clinic building, drawing attention to the sky and the infinity of space beyond. Sunset/Sunrise, a mural and soundscape by Adia Millett which celebrates resilience in the face of life’s constant change, is situated in a major entry corridor.

The David Brower Center is pleased to present its first complete online exhibition! Art/Act: Local - Wild Places featuring the work of four Bay Area artists, examining the importance of connecting people to wilderness in order for them to appreciate, understand, and ultimately protect our natural environment.

The work of these artists varies greatly, from the microscopic seed images of Hagit Cohen to the grandiose landscapes of Alan Sonneman to the evocative backyard paintings of Ellen Little to the mesmerizing seaweed cyanotypes of Ann Holsberry, but all are infused with the desire to celebrate nature – her beauty and her resiliency.

DUE TO COVID-19: Wild Places was (safely, distantly) installed last month and will be on view on our Hazel Wolf Gallery until September 23rd. We're unsure when we'll be able to welcome the public physically to our space. In lieu of an in person visit, we'd like to share these digital ways to connect with the artists and their incredible work: the online gallery, livestream artist panel and Q&A (date in August TBD), and short video features on each artist (coming soon on our website). Stay tuned, and stay safe!
