19H, Oakland
Greater Mysteries by Randy Colosky 2020
Chandra Cerrito / Art Advisors was honored to lead one of Oakland's first public art in private development projects for 19H, a new residential building at 19th and Harrison in the city's downtown.
The Greater Mysteries by local artist Randy Colosky is a 70-foot long mural and 36 suspended stainless steel spheres that together celebrate the creative spirits of the victims of Oakland's tragic Ghost Ship fire on December 2, 2016.
The work also recalls the wonder of celestial navigation, and how we are participating in a vast sea of energetic waves, atoms, photons, planets, stars, galaxies and the fabric of spacetime itself.
There are 36 star lights in this project to represent each person lost in the fire, and to contemplate that ultimately, we are all stardust.
